Most platform games ask you to avoid enemies coming from ahead. Shady Cats adds a stranger problem: your own past movements can come back to catch you. Play as a cat, hop between platforms, and gather acorns while trying not to collide with a shadow that retraces your path. One careless jump can turn a safe route into a trap.
Acorns are the main things to collect, but grabbing every one isn't always worth the risk. Your shadow repeats the movements you've already made, so running back through an area can put you directly in its way. You need to think about where you'll land and where you've been, not just what's sitting on the next platform.
Fish add another decision. They offer bonuses, but collecting them attracts bees, which can make an already tricky route more dangerous. Fireflies work differently: they clear shadows temporarily. Save that chance for a moment when you need room to move.
Shady Cats can be played alone or with up to four people sharing one device. Each player has separate movement to manage, so the screen can get hectic when everyone is jumping around at once. Playing with friends can turn acorn collecting into a contest, but careless movement makes it easier to get caught.
Solo players can also try Crazy mode, where previous movements create an ongoing threat. The longer you last, the more carefully you need to consider your next move.
Player 1: A / D or Q / D to move; W / Z to jump.
Player 2: F / H to move; T to jump.
Player 3: J / L to move; I to jump.
Player 4: Left / Right Arrow keys to move; Up Arrow to jump.
The shadow mechanic changes how you approach even a short jump. You might spot an acorn just ahead, but the route back could be blocked by your own shadow. Fish and bees add another layer of risk, while fireflies give you a brief chance to clear the way. The game works best when you stop rushing and start thinking a few moves ahead.
