OVO is a 2D platformer where getting from one side of a level to the other depends on movement and timing. You play as a stickman and have to deal with spikes, rotating platforms, disappearing blocks, and other obstacles along the way.

Playing OVO

The basic idea is simple: move through the level and reach the finish as quickly as possible. The tricky part is controlling the character when the path starts getting crowded.

You can run and jump over gaps, slide under obstacles, and use walls to jump higher or change direction. Dashing is useful when you need to get through a section quickly. Some parts of a level require these moves to be used one after another, so knowing what comes next can save a failed attempt.

There is no need to rush every jump. Sometimes it is better to wait for a rotating platform or check where a disappearing block will leave you before moving.

Controls

  • Arrow Keys / WASD: Move and jump
  • Down Arrow / S: Slide
  • Up Arrow / W: Wall-jump on walls
  • Spacebar: Jump
  • R: Restart the level

The controls do not take long to learn. Getting the timing right is the harder part. A jump that is slightly too early or late can put the character straight into a spike or leave you short of the next platform.

Faster Runs

OVO keeps track of how quickly levels are completed. Medals give you another reason to replay stages after you already know the route. On another attempt, you can try to remove pauses, make cleaner jumps, and find a faster way through a section.

The R key is especially useful here. If a run goes badly, restarting immediately is quicker than continuing with a poor time.

Game Experience

OVO starts off fairly easy to understand, then asks more from your movement as the levels progress. The fun comes from learning a section, making a mistake, and then getting through it cleanly on the next try.

It works well for short sessions because a level can be replayed several times without a long setup. Players who like precise platforming and chasing better completion times will have plenty to work on.
