Murder is a short arcade game built around timing and observation. You begin as an adviser walking behind the king, waiting for a chance to take the throne. If you succeed, the situation changes immediately: now you're the king, and the next adviser wants your position.

Take the Throne

As the adviser, use Space to prepare your attack. The important part is watching the king. If he turns around while you're preparing the stab, you'll be caught and sent to the dungeon. Wait for a safe moment, charge the attack, and release Space when the timing is right. A successful attempt puts you on the throne.

Protect Your Crown

Becoming king doesn't end the game. Your former role is replaced by another adviser, who is now waiting for an opportunity to attack you. Hold Space to look behind you. Catch the adviser while he's preparing an attack and the attempt ends in your favor. Wait too long, however, and he can take the throne from you.

Simple Controls, Tight Timing

  • Space – Prepare your action / look behind you
  • Release Space – Complete the action

There are only a few controls to learn, so most of the challenge comes from deciding when to use them.

A Game of Patience

Murder doesn't give you a large map or a long list of objectives. Most attempts are over quickly. The interesting part is the switch between the two roles.

As an adviser, you're watching for the king's movements. As king, you're trying to notice the adviser doing exactly the same thing to you. That small change keeps the basic mechanic from feeling completely repetitive.

More Games

If you enjoy short games with a sneaky twist, Horror Nun adds chase and avoidance elements, while Dig Out of Prison focuses more on escaping and finding a way out.

Murder keeps everything simple: watch carefully, wait for the right moment, and don't assume the throne is safe once you've taken it.
